A Community Built on Respectful Professional Engagement
Thank you for being part of the AFP Silicon Valley community. To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, these guidelines support respectful, constructive, and professional engagement.
By participating in AFPSV community spaces, events, discussions, and shared resources, you agree to follow these guidelines and uphold AFP’s commitment to ethical fundraising, professionalism, inclusion, and mutual respect.
AFP Member Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to follow these community guidelines and abide by AFP’s Member Code of Conduct.

These rules help preserve an environment that encourages civil and constructive dialogue.
Respect Others
Focus on the content of discussions rather than the people participating. Extend patience, professionalism, and respect to newer guests and members.
Respect the Purpose
Use the community to share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, goals, and resources relevant to fundraising and philanthropy.
Use Caution
Information shared in discussion groups and libraries may be visible to others. Comments may be subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
Avoid Prohibited Content
Defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, illegal, or inappropriate materials are strictly prohibited.
Respect Intellectual Property
Only post content you created, have permission to use, or have properly attributed to the original creator.
Post in the Right Place
Post messages and documents only to the most appropriate communities to help reduce noise and support meaningful responses.
Posting & Participation Guidelines
AFP welcomes questions and posts that help build the community’s knowledge base while protecting member expectations, privacy, and trust.
Resources
Resources should be timely, useful, relevant, free to access, and clear about any personal information requested.
Promotion
Self-promotional posts intended to generate business opportunities may be removed. Advertising opportunities are available through AFP Global.
Job Postings
Job openings should not be posted in open discussions. Please use the appropriate AFP career platform or visit AFP Global Careers.
Solicitation
Requests for contributions, donations, or material goods should not be posted in community discussion spaces.
Discussion Group Etiquette
- State the topic of your message clearly and concisely in the subject line.
- Send personal replies, such as “thank you” or “me too,” directly to individuals rather than the full group.
- Do not send administrative requests to the group. Use the appropriate web interface to update settings or preferences.
Legal & Privacy Notes
AFP community spaces are provided as a service to members and participants. AFP is not responsible for opinions and information posted by others.
Messages or materials should not encourage conduct that restricts free trade, including inappropriate discussion of prices, salaries, discounts, market share, customers, suppliers, or related matters.
AFP reserves the right to take appropriate action if inappropriate postings or violations of community guidelines are brought to its attention.
External websites linked through AFPSV platforms may maintain separate privacy policies and practices. Please review external privacy policies before disclosing personal information.
